The nitty-gritty work of the campaign has started. With the clouds overhead threatening to burst open, Mattie and I spent some time outside of Brough and Kimpel Hall this afternoon passing out our business cards, directing folks to our campaign website and Facebook group so they can check out the platform and get back to us with questions or concerns. Standing on the sidewalk trying to snag a few seconds of passing students' attention certainly took me back a few months to the Obama campaign, and made me remember how hard it is to get people to listen to you for even a second. But, we are dedicated to reaching as many students as possible, and making sure that everyone has an opportunity to view our platform.
Tonight we're hammering out the final schedule for the rest of the campaign, determining where we can be and when, and making sure that we have all our ducks in a row for the numerous events we will be both attending and hosting during Election Week. The first big event is the ASG Election Cookout on Monday, starting at 11:00 on the Union Mall. Come by to meet all the candidates, grab some food, and “grill” us about our platform and positions. (Sorry, couldn't resist).
Especially important is making sure that you get a t-shirt sometime this weekend to show your support for Mattie and Andrew, and wearing it every day possible. Also, make sure you have stickers to wear when you can't rock the T. It's most important that we have high visibility Monday through Thursday of the election.
Remember – Monday, starting at 11:00am: Cookout with Bookhout!!! (...and LeNarz).
Keep on rockin' in the free world, and let's win this thing!
